Research Data Analyst / Bioinformatician / Data Scientist (f/m/d)
Unternehmen: Universitätsklinikum Tübingen Institut für Medizinische Gene tik und Angewandte GenomikArbeitszeitmodell: VollzeitArbeitsort: Tübingen (DE)Stellenbeschreibung:About the Core facility of genomics
The Core Facility Genomics (head Dr. Nicolas Casadei) was established in 2015 and offers sequencing services for researchers of the University of Tübingen and from overall Germany. Since 2018 it is also one of four DFG NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) competence centers for high throughput sequencing in Germany, the "NGS Competence Center Tübingen, NCCT".
Within the Core Facility, various technological applications have been implemented and are offered as research services. These include sequencing by synthesis, nanopore sequencing, single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, native DNA sequencing, FFPE genome sequencing, various RNA enrichment/depletion protocols and more.
In addition to providing sequencing service, we support research processes in several aspects: by knowledge transfer, by improving reproducibility of research results, and by offering highest reliability. The Core Facility Genomics is part of the Medical Faculty and located at two different sites: at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics and the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene.
Tasks
- Independent execution and maintenance of bioinformatic pipelines for the analysis of NGS data
- Primary (quality control of sequencing and alignment data) and secondary bioinformatics analyses (variant calling in genome and exome sequencing data, differential gene expression from bulk RNA-seq data, single-cell gene expression)
- Maintenance of data infrastructure (storage, transfer, digital archiving of NGS data)
- Planning and accurate documentation of analyses, preparation of self-explanatory reports for team members and cooperation partners without bioinformatics background
- Handling of sequencing data from different technologies (Illumina, Nanopore
- Support our scientific team with the evaluation of sequencing data
- Development of new bioinformatics pipelines and automation of existing processes
Profile
- Motivated team player holding a MSc or PhD degree in bioinformatics, genetics or in diverse data sciences with a clear computational focus
- Experience with the application of bioinformatic tools and processing of NGS data
- Programming skills with Unix bash shell script, Java, Python, R, and C++
- Ideally, experience in project management, and quality management procedures
- Strong communication skills in English, proficiency in German is desirable
Benefits
- Opportunity to join one of Europe's leading, scientifically highly productive teams at the forefront of NGS-based diagnostics and biomedical research
- International, attractive, and interdisciplinary working environment.
- Flexible working hours and home-officing policy
- Possibilities for further scientific qualification and for personal development
