Aufgaben:
Tasks: experimental high-pressure studies of novel quantum materials. The new high-pressure laboratory of the IFMP provides unique experimental facilities for cutting-edge research. As PhD student you will join our team of experienced researchers and work in this laboratory to explore new collective quantum states of condensed matter. Your task will be to explore the phase diagram of frustrated quantum materials at high pressures and low temperatures by means of advanced x-ray scattering and spectroscopy. The goal is to discover new states of matter and to combine experiment with realistic model calculations in order to uncover the physics at work. In addition to the experiments at IFMP, you will also have the opportunity to work at large scale research centers such as free electron lasers and synchrotron radiation facilities. You will join the Chair of Physics of Quantum Materials (https://tu-dresden.de/mn/physik/ifmp/pdqm) and work within the Collaborative Research Center 1143 (https://tu-dresden.de/mn/physik/sfb1143) , both offering an outstanding research environment for your project. Active collaboration with associated research groups is expected, along with project-related supervision of student theses (Bachelor, Master).
Qualifikationen:
Requirements: very good university degree in physics (e.g. Master); interest in basic research; ability to work in a team and organizational talent; good command of English and German; ideally experience with advanced x-ray experiments.
