Tesla's Supply Chain Cost Engineering team sits at the intersection of supply chain financial analysis, business intelligence, data engineering, and data science to support this mission by converting raw data into actionable insights. The Cost Engineer role will support the development and maintenance of value-added sourcing and component life cycle cost control. This role requires the management of direct materials costing analytics within the purchasing organization and will involve developing and enhancing analytic tools and methodologies to support data-driven decision-making throughout the supply chain. We are looking for a talented Cost Engineer who is passionate about analytics, automation, and business decision-making. You will manage and lead direct material component cost development and costing analytics with the Supply Chain organization and collaborate across the business with industrialization, finance, and design engineering teams. Participate in Design for Manufacturing reviews, change control meetings, and other technical discussions with buyers and engineering partners. Monitor global industry trends and track technology roadmaps. Collect and maintain regional OpEx and CapEx data necessary for cost modeling including labor rates, machine rates, machine costs, etc. Together with buyers, drive cost-down opportunities for new and running programs. Perform rigorous analyses on large, complex data sets and provide strategic insights, hypotheses, and conclusions based upon findings to leaders at all levels. Work with business operations and engineering teams to drive the development of Tesla's data, reporting, and analytics platforms. Design, develop, implement, maintain, and improve data models, forecast models, dashboards, and data pipelines to streamline data analysis and reporting processes. Create a clean, reliable, and scalable single source of truth data sets by partnering with data quality and application engineering teams to address data issues in upstream systems and document data lineage, business logic, and KPI definitions.
