Welcome to Hahn-Schickard: The research center for innovative microsystems technology. With a team of over 300 employees, we transform ideas into cross-industry solutions - from conception to production at four locations in Baden-Württemberg. At our Freiburg site, the emphasis is on developing analytical solutions in microsystems technology, particularly for point-of-care diagnostics.

For our Microfluidic Platforms division, we offer at Freiburg im Breisgau (end of spring/summer 2025)

Master Thesis - Microfluidic Design of a Point-of-Care Test for Multiparameter Analysis (m/f/x)

Your Tasks

- Familiarize with the subject area, particularly centrifugal microfluidics
- Microfluidic design: CAD and simulation of a microfluidic network on a centrifugal microfluidic cartridge (using SolidWorks and MATLAB Sim-ulink)
- Design validation and testing of the cartridges in the laboratory
- Documentation and evaluation of the results
- Discussion of the results and next steps with your supervisor
- Participation in regular meetings with the project team

Your profile

- You are currently studying for a Master's degree in engineering in a STEM subject (e.g. microsys-tems technology, sustainable systems engineer-ing, embedded systems or comparable degree programs)
- Basic knowledge of microsystems technology
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary topics and interest in medical technology
- You are reliable, independent, team-oriented and you have a proactive way of working
- You are characterized by creativity and initiative
- Very good English language skills; German is a plus
